Jean Shinoda Bolen is a medical doctor, Jungian analyst, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco, as well as a Distinguished Member of the American Psychiatric Association.

She is the author of numerous books, many of them published by Kairós, and an internationally recognized lecturer.
