Jimmie C. Holland is chief of psychiatry at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and professor of psychiatry at Cornell University. Has pioneered the study of psycho-oncology and lead author of the first book on the subject, which deals with psychological and social aspects of cancer. In 1994 he received the Medal of Honor, the highest award from the American Cancer Society. She has been president of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. In 2000 she was awarded an Honorable Mention for president of the American Psychiatric Association. Sheldon Lewis is a journalist specializing in the psychological aspects of illness.
