John F. Moffitt, professor emeritus at New Mexico State University (USA), is the author of numerous articles and over 50 books on various historical and artistic matters. Among his most recent works can be highlighted: Alchemist of the Avant-Garde: The Case of Marcel Duchamp (2003), Caravaggio in Context (2004), The Islamic Design-Module in Latin-American Architecture (2004) and Inspiration: Bacchus and the Cultural History of a Modern Creation Myth (2005). He has also published several case studies in Spanish as Velázquez, practice and idea (1991), The Case of the Lady of Elche are: History of a forgery (1996 and 1997), The Arts in Spain (1997) and Our Lady of Guadalupe : painting, legend and reality (2004).
