George Durand. He was born in Lima, Peru, and is Mexican by naturalization. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Anthropology from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master's degree in Social Anthropology from the Colegio de Michoacán. He has a doctorate (NR) in Geography and Territorial Planning from the University of Toulouise-Le Mirail, France. He has been a visiting professor and researcher at the CNRS, France, and at the universities of Chicago, Pennsylvania, California, UCLA, Warsaw, and Princeton.
