José F. Durán Velasco (Valladolid, 1967) holds a PhD in Arabic Philology from the University of Seville, with a doctoral thesis entitled The Sixth and Seventh Climates in al-Qazwini’s Geography. He has taught several university extension and free-choice courses at the University of Seville. He is the author of books such as The Arab-Israeli Conflict. A Non-Statolatric Vision (2009), Islam versus Other Religions (2012), Treatise on Demonology. From Prometheus to Malak Tawûs, from Ahriman to Iblis (2013) and Amazons, Warrior Women in Mythology. In collaboration with Xabier Pikaza and Abdelmumin Aya, he is co-author of the Dictionary of the Three Religions (2009) and with Abdelmumin Aya and Zakib Zugari of Words of Smoke (translation of Qudsí hadiths, 2012). His unpublished books include, among others: Origins of the Jews: Diaspora and Proselytism and Freethinkers and Unbelievers in the Medieval Islamic World. He is the author of various articles in magazines such as Raphir (Journal of Anthropology and Philosophy of Religions), Mundo Iranio and the Bulletin of the Spanish Society of Iranology.
