Joshua Hammer (New York, 1957) is a journalist and editor at Newsweek. He worked as a correspondent in Africa in times of war, genocide and revolution. He covered the uprising in Somalia, the tragedy in Rwanda and South Africa's first democratic elections. In 2003 he was a National Magazine Award finalist for his reporting on the Al Aqsa intifada and won several journalistic awards for his work in South America, Africa and the Middle East. His book 'Chosen By God: A Brother's Journey' was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award.
