Juan Ignacio Pozo Municio

Juan Ignacio Pozo Municio is Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the Autonomous University of Madrid, in 1980, and Ph.D. in Psychology from the same university in 1986, is Professor in the Department of Basic Psychology, teaching materials related to Cognitive Psychology Learning in both Psychology Degree and the Master of Educational Psychology.
His research has been focused on learning concepts and procedures in different specific domains of knowledge (geography, history, physics, chemistry, grammar, music, philosophy, psychology, etc) as well as in the development of learning strategies in students in both Secondary Education and Higher Education. It has also developed a theoretical work on the analysis and the proposed cognitive learning models, the result of which has published several works (cognitive learning theories, Editorial Morata, 1989 Troubleshooting in Editorial Santillana, 1994 Learners and teachers Alianza Editorial in 2008, and Human mind The world consciousness and meat, Editorial Morata, 2001, Knowledge Acquisition. verb when the meat is done, Editorial Morata, 2003).

In the specific area of learning specific knowledge has directed several research projects and more than a dozen doctoral theses. His most recent works are focused on the study of conceptual change processes and the use of external systems of representation as mediators in the acquisition of knowledge in specific domains. Result of this research are numerous articles in national and international journals and several books, including Learning science and causal thought, published in 1987 by Visor, The teaching of social sciences, along with Mario Carretero and Mikel Asensio (visor, 1989) and Learning and Teaching science in collaboration with Miguel Ángel Gómez Crespo, published by Morata in 1998 has contributed to several training activities, research and advisory, several of them in the framework of the UNESCO Chair in science Education involved in representing the UAM.
He has also participated in numerous training and teacher training, both the university level as in previous stages, not only in Spain but also in several Latin American countries. In this line, in recent years it is investigating the conceptions teachers and students have about learning and teaching and how these concepts should be modified in the context of educational changes required by the new culture of learning. Some of these result of this research were published in collaboration with researchers from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Elena Martin, Mar Mateos, María Puy Pérez Echeverría)
