Kalu Rinpoche (1905-1989) was born in eastern Tibet. At fifteen he gave his first class and after the traditional three-year and three-month retreat, he studied with eminent professors of the Karma Kagyu order. Since 1974, he has founded innumerable centers scattered around the world.
