
Koji Suzuki (May 13, 1957, Hamamatsu) is a Japanese best-selling writer. His novel Paradise (1990) was awarded the prize of fantastic novel of Japan. The second, The Ring, was a finalist in the Seishi Yokomizo contest, and it was a great publishing success. With his next book, Spiral (1995), he won the new talent prize at the 17th edition of the Eiji Yoshikawa literature awards. Finally, his work Dark Water (1996), was a candidate for the Naoki awards. He is one of the most acclaimed best-selling novelists in his country. The film adaptation of Ringu, has been the highest grossing film in the history of Japanese cinema, and has become a real phenomenon of the masses, with several sequels, books, manga, television series and video games.
