Leo Maslíah

Leo Maslíah (Montevideo, 1954) studied music and performed for the first time in public in 1974 with a classical repertoire. From 1978 on, he developed an intense activity as an author and interpreter of popular music, having performed in several countries in America and Europe. He edited, as a soloist, about 40 albums. "Árboles" won in 2008 the Gardel prize (Argentina) for the "best instrumental album". Leo Maslíah also published about 40 books, (The Good News, Unpredictable Stories, Transverse History of Floreal Menéndez, Room Service, among others) among which are novels, compilations of stories and plays. His work "Telecomedia" was distinguished with the National Literature Prize of Uruguay in 2000. In 2009 he applied for the Guggenheim scholarship, but he was not given it.
