Leopoldo Alas Clarín

Leopoldo Alas "Clarín" (Zamora, 1852-Oviedo, 1901) was born into a liberal family of Asturian origin. He graduated in law in Madrid, where he began working as a journalist and literary critic for various publications, signing under the pseudonym of Clarin, taken from the name of the funny in life is dream, of Calderon de la Barca. He alternated his work as Professor of Political Economy and Professor of Natural Law with writing hundreds of articles, and novels and essays.
