Lierre Keith. United States, 1964. Writer, feminist, and environmentalist Lierre Keith began her activism in the feminist movement as the editor and founder of Vanessa and Iris: A Journal for Young Feminists. She volunteered with the Women Against Violence Against Women group in Cambridge, where she participated in numerous educational events and protest campaigns. In 1984 she was a founding member of Minor Disturbance, a protest group against militarism from a feminist perspective, and two years later, Feminists Against Pornography in Northampton. She is also the editor and founder of the feminist magazine Rain and Thunder. Keith was one of the first public defenders of the American food movement, and her views have repeatedly drawn criticism from some vegetarian organizations. During the presentation of her book The Vegetarian Myth at the 2010 Anarchist Book Fair, she was "attacked" with chili cakes by vegetarian activists.

Keith is also linked to the Deep Green Resistance movement, and together with Aric McBay and Derrick Jensen, she co-wrote the essay Deep Green Resistance: Strategy to Save the Planet (2011), a manual on how to build the 'resistance movement that will bring down industrial civilization and it will save the planet ”and that tries to evaluate strategic options,“ from non-violence to guerrilla warfare ”, to achieve success.
