Louise Erdrich (Little Falls, Minnesota, 1954) is a novelist, poet and writer of children's books; descends from French immigrants and German and Native American Ojibwe tribe, and this cultural diversity inherited from their ancestors is strongly reflected in his literary creation. He currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he owns the independent bookstore Birchbark Books. His novel The Round House, has been awarded the most prestigious award in American letters, the National Book Award.
