Marguerite Duras (Gia Dinh, Vietnam, 1914-Paris, 1996), pseudonym of Marguerite Donnadieu, studied law, mathematics and political science in Paris. In 1943 he published his first work, The impudence, to be followed by numerous novels, screenplays and dramatic texts. The lover, his most celebrated novel, received the Prix Goncourt in 1984.
