María Elena González Ortega

María Elena González Ortega (Mexico City, 1967) is a writer and a graduate of the Creative Writing program at the Mexican Writers' Center. She has lived in Mérida since the 1980s, where she is a member of the "Hipogeo" Short Story Workshop and has participated in various literary workshops with renowned authors.

She is the author of the books Isabel (2019) and Travesía (2024), published by Acequia Casa Editorial. Her work appears in numerous anthologies, including La perra que conocí el mar, published by the Mérida City Council; Revelaciones (2024), published by the Yucatán Ministry of Culture and the Arts; and Voces desde el Límite, published by Nitro Press. She has also published science fiction and speculative fiction with publishing houses and specialized magazines.

She contributes to various literary magazines and publishes short stories and essays. His book, The Garden That Takes Over Me, an anthology of short stories, will be presented on March 19 in the Uxmal 4 room during the FILEY.
