María Luisa Cerdeño Serrano

She began his degree in Valencia, but after the first year he moved to the University of Madrid where he finished his studies in 1972. His Degree Report deals with the Celtiberian necropolis of Valdenovillos and his doctoral thesis from 1977, directed by Martín Almagro Basch, on the peninsular belt clasps of the Iron Age.

She develops her academic activity at the Complutense University of Madrid as Assistant Professor (1974/75 and 1975/76), Course Manager at the Toledo University College (1976/77 and 1978/79), Interim Associate (1977-78), Course Manager at UCM (1979/80 to 1981-82), Hired Assistant (1982-83 to 1984-85), and finally Full Professor (1/21/1985), retiring in 2019. In addition to teaching at the degree, coordinates the Master in Archeology (2007/08-2011/12) and in Prehistoric Archeology (2017/18 and 2018/19).

His research activity has focused mainly on the study of the peninsular Iron Age, with special emphasis on the Celtiberian culture, starting with the review of the old collections deposited in the MAN and, later, beginning the search for new sites that would provide data. contextualized and that, after their excavation, study and publication, have provided interesting information and have become reference points for the study of said culture.

Since the beginning of his research, he has shown special interest in the heritage aspect of archaeological sites, the most visible results being the declaration of the El Ceremeño castro as BIC in 1990, making it one of the first sites to visit in the Autonomous Community of Castilla- The stain. The Los Rodiles oppidum, excavated in 2006, was also declared BIC in 2012.

Her second line of research will be archaeoastronomy in which she collaborates with colleagues from the Faculties of Physical Sciences and Mathematics. She directs a monograph in the Complutum magazine on the most outstanding research in the two scientific fields involved, archeology and astronomy, showing the lines of work that are currently being followed.
