Mariana Alessandri is an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the first bilingual university in the United States. She and her partner founded RGV PUEDE, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote bilingual education in public schools in South Texas. They live on the border with their two children.
