Max Hastings

Sir Max Hastings (London, 1945) is one of the most important and award-winning military historians. Author of more than twenty books, he has been a correspondent for the BBC and has directed The Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard. He is currently a columnist for The Times, Bloomberg Inc and a contributor to The Sunday Times.

Some of his most outstanding works are Armageddon. The defeat of Germany, 1944-1945, Nemesis. The defeat of Japan, 1944-1945, Churchill's war, All hell broke loose. History of the Second World War, The Secret War: Spies, Codes and Guerrillas, 1914. The year of the catastrophe and Vietnam. An epic tragedy, 1945-1975.

His research and historical dissemination work have earned him the Pritzker Military Prize in 2012 and the Bronze Medal of the US Council on Foreign Relations Arthur Ross in 2019, among many other awards.

He lives with his wife Penny in West Berkshire, England, where they enjoy their passion for gardening.
