Maximiliano Barrientos was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, in 1979. He is one of the most relevant Latin American writers of his generation. His articles on literature, music and cinema, as well as some of his chronicles, have appeared in the main Bolivian magazines and cultural supplements. In 2009, his book of stories Diario (2009) received the Santa Cruz National Literature Prize. His first two books, The Damages (2006) and Hotels (2007), were revised, corrected and transformed to become the volumes Photos of you when you start to age and Hotels, published by Periférica in 2011 with great critical success and on the way to translation into various languages.
