Milorad Pavić (Belgrade, 1929-2009 ) was a novelist , short story writer , poet , translator and literary historian , has been translated into more than 20 languages ​​around the world and his Dictionary of the Khazars is considered one of the masterpieces of postmodern literature and is even called "the first novel of the XXI century." It was a PhD from the University of Zagreb in literary history. After teaching literature at various universities , he devoted himself entirely to writing until his death. His first collection of poems , Palimpsest , appeared in Belgrade in 1967. His major works include Dictionary of the Khazars (1984 ) , winner of the NIN Award , the highest honor of Serbian letters , Landscape painted with tea (1988 ) , The inside of the wind (1991 ) , The Last love in Constantinople , Novel -Tarot (1994) and Seven Deadly Sins (1999 ).
