Montse Sanuy studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, won the second prize for Chamber Music and specialized in musical folklore, choral singing and Gregorian chant at the Higher School of Sacred Music in Madrid. She attended as a student courses on active methodology in Brussels, Lisbon, Leuven, Munich and Paris. She completed studies in Musical Pedagogy at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Orff Institut) and has been the introducer of the Orff System in Spain. He has given music classes to several generations of children in different schools and has also dedicated himself to sharing his experiences and knowledge, training teachers from all the Spanish Communities and in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Costa Rica, France, Guatemala, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Republic of El Salvador. She directs seminars and work groups with Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education teachers and Musical Language Teachers from Music Schools and Conservatories. She has been a pioneer of pedagogical concerts, presenting concerts for youth at the Teatro Español and at the Teatro María Guerrero in Madrid for two seasons. It has also been a pioneer in bringing musical education to the media, directing and presenting high-impact educational programs on radio and television since 1967: Musicando con Montse, for TVE, Mensaje Infantil, for Radio Exterior de España, and En clave de sol, for Radio 2, made with children from “La Guindalera” School. From 1974 to 1981 she directed a course on Music and Dramatization for Educators at the National Distance Education University (UNED) in Madrid. She has also been a professor in the Master of Total Creativity at the University of Santiago de Compostela. She for 25 years she has taught at the National Institute of Physical Education. She has also given music classes at the Santa Sofía, Montealto, Santa María, La Guindalera and Colegio Suizo de Madrid schools. She has devoted a lifetime to music education. She founded the Music and Dance studio in Madrid. She is the author of several songbooks, abundant teaching materials, textbooks for Primary and Secondary, discs and recordings full of songs and music suitable for teaching. Montse Sanuy has become, on her own merit, and from the humility of daily work well done, an essential reference for those dedicated to music education.
