Nicola Chiaromonte

Nicola Chiaromonte (Rapolla, 1905 - Rome, 1972), philosopher and literary critic, participated in the anti-fascist struggle, for which he had to go into exile in Paris. Following the Nazi invasion of France, he moved to New York, where he stood out as a defender of libertarian socialism. The main compilations of his essays are Silenzio e parole (1978) and The Worm of Consciousness and Other Essays (1977). His capital work, The Paradox of History, was published in London in 1970.
