Norman Hinsdale Pitman (1876-1925).
Between 1909 and 1921 he was a university professor in the province of Chihli (China) to, later, continue his teaching work as a professor of English at the Peking Teachers College (Peking University of Teaching).
An expert in Chinese folklore, he is the author of several novels and short story collections, including The Lady Elect, A Chinese Christmas Tree, Chinese Playmates, and Chinese Fairy Tales.
