Óscar Calavia (Logroño, 1959) is a writer, historian and ethnologist. He lived in Brazil between 1986 and 2017, and for twenty years he was a professor of Anthropology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Since 2018 he is directeur d' études at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris. He is the author of numerous articles and a dozen books, including scientific and literary works, some of which have won awards. For years he has lavished himself on popularization publications, from Revista de Occidente to Piedra de Rayo, including a blog (cafekabul.blogspot.com).
With Basura he has won the Café Bretón & Bodegas Olarra award in 2020.
