Pablo Argibay was born in Buenos Aires in 1956. He is director of the Institute of Basic and Experimental Medicine Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (ICBME) and researcher of CONICET Sciences. He completed his training as a surgeon in the Department of Surgery of the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, where he specialized in general surgery first and then organ transplant surgery. Currently developing research work in biology of the brain in experimental and theoretical aspects as well as in regenerative medicine, organ transplantation and stem cells. He received his doctorate in medicine at the University of Buenos Aires with a thesis about bioartificial organs which won the "School of Medicine" award for the best thesis of the year. He was invited predoctoral researcher at the University of Iowa (USA) and the French INSERM, doing internships at the universities of Chicago and Pittsburgh in the United States and the University of Cambridge in England
