Paul Cartledge is Professor of Greek History at the University of Cambridge and a member of the Governing Council and director of studies at Clare College, Cambridge. Throughout his brilliant career he has written and edited numerous books on the ancient Greek world. All these books are characterized by being accessible to readers who are laymen, but also be very stimulating for the professional expert. His publications include works such as Cambridge Illustrated History of Greece, The Greeks: A Portrait of Self and Others, Alexander the Great and Thermopylae.
