Pedro Miguel González Urbaneja

Pedro Miguel González Urbaneja (León, 1953) is Professor of Mathematics since 1977. He has been a professor at the University of Barcelona and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. His interest focuses on the cultural dimension of Mathematics and its role in the history of thought, as well as the didactic concern to know its historical roots in order to better respond to the challenge of teaching and learning, on what has published various books , among others: The roots of the Calculus Infinitesimal in the seventeenth century (Editorial Alliance), The origins of Analytical Geometry (Orotava Foundation of History of Science), Pythagoras, the number philosopher (Nivola) and Plato and the Academy of Athens (Nivola) He is co-author of two critical editions (in Spanish, UAB-UPC) and in Catalan (Bernat Metge) of El Método de Archimedes, as well as the edition of ICM2006 of Selected Works of Archimedes (RSME). He has taught numerous courses, seminars and conferences in Universities and Teachers' Centers related to History, Philosophy, Epistemology and Mathematics Didactics, about which he has published several articles in the journals La Gaceta de la RSME, SUMA, Mundo Científico, DivulgaMAT , Teaching of Sciences, Notebooks of Pedagogy, School Community, ABEAM, BIAIX, and others. He is also a co-author of textbooks.
