Professor (David Lee Shillinglaw Distinguished Service) Departments of Education and Psychology and the Committee on Ideas and Methods, University of Chicago, where he also leads the Benton Center for Curriculum and Instruction. PhD from Columbia University (Teachers' College), part of the National Academy of Education. In addition to this work, he is the author of The Practice of Teaching (Teachers College Press, 1986) and co-author with J. W. Getzels of Creativity and InteIligence.
