Translation of works of Tacitus, Plautus and Terence, was also emeritus professor at the Sorbonne, president of the Latin Vita Association and member of the French Society of Classical Archaeology, Egyptology Society, the Royal Swedish Academy of History and Belgian Royal Academy.
