
Renato González Mello holds a degree in History and a doctorate in Art History from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Since 1992, he has been a researcher at the Institute of Aesthetic Research at UNAM.
He also teaches at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at UNAM and has been a visiting professor at the University of Veracruz, the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, the Ibero-American University, El Colegio de México, and Columbia University.
He served as coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Art History from 2008 to 2010 and as director of the Institute of Aesthetic Research from 2010 to 2018. Since 2014, he has been a member of the Academy of Arts. In 2020, he received the National University Award in the area of Arts Research.
