Professor of Contemporary Political Theory and Postcolonial Studies at the University of Bologna (Italy). He co-directs DeriveApprodi magazine, is part of Studi Culturali's editorial collective and collaborates with the Il Manifesto newspaper.
He has participated in different experiences linked to Italian social centers and to self-organization projects of migrants in Europe.
His books Right to escape. Migrations, citizenship and globalization (2004) and La condizione postcoloniale. Storia e politica nel mondo globale (2008), as well as his numerous recent articles (see, in Spanish,? Living in transition. Towards a heterolingual theory of the crowd?) Prove that Mezzadra is one of the boldest observers of the political consequences of the modern migratory event.
