Shahram Khosravi (Isfahan, 1966). Anthropologist and researcher, he migrated at a very young age, fleeing Iran in 1987 to avoid recruitment by the Iranian Army for the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988). After arriving in Sweden in 1988, in 1991 he suffered an Islamophobic attack, in which he was shot by a far-rightist. Currently an adjunct professor at the Department of Social Anthropology at Stockholm University, Khosravi has conducted anthropological research on Iran and the Middle East, migration, human rights and forced displacement. He has been in charge of the investigations “After the deportation” (on the asylum application processes in Sweden) and “Waiting” (on undocumented migrants waiting to receive a residence permit). In addition to this book, he is the author of Young and Defiant in Tehran (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2008) and Precarious Lives. Waiting and Hope in Iran (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2017). He is also the editor of the volume After Deportation. Ethnographic Perspectives (Palgrave, 2017).
