Arabist and political scientist, she holds a PhD in International Mediterranean Studies from the Autonomous University of Madrid, is a member of the teaching team of the International Summer School of Critical Islamic Thought of Granada and the research team of the TEIM-UAM. Between 2008 and 2012 she was a researcher and FPI professor in the Department of Arab Studies of the UAM. She is the author of numerous articles on feminism, coloniality, Islamophobia and Arab revolutions, and has lectured at more than 70 renowned universities and research centers around the world. She has also been a regular contributor as a political analyst in several Spanish media such as R5, Cope, "El País" or "El Mundo", among others. Syrian-Spanish activist opposed to the Assad regime and mother of two. In 2011 she was chosen as one of the 100 most influential people in the Ibero-American world by "El País".
