Stephen J. Burn is Professor of English Language at Northern Michigan University. He has written numerous essays, monographs, and articles on contemporary literature, including Jonathan Franzen at the End of Postmodernism and David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest: A Reader's Guide.

He is a regular contributor to literary publications such as the New York Times Book Review, the Times Literary Supplement, and the American Book Review.
