Susan Schneider holds the Baruch S. Blumberg NASA Chair at the United States Library of Congress and is the director of the Artificial Intelligence, Mind, and Society Group at the University of Connecticut. She founded and directs the Center for the Future Mind at Florida Atlantic University. During two years of research at NASA she explored superintelligent AI. She previously designed tests to determine whether an AI system possesses consciousness or not at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Her work has appeared widely in the media and she writes opinion pieces for The New York Times, Scientific American, and The Financial Times, among others. Artificial Intelligence is her fourth book.
