Taisen Deshimaru

Taisen Deshimaru

Taisen Deshimaru (1914-1982) has for years been the only representative of the true Zen spirit in the West.

In 1967 he was sent to Paris, with the backing of all the Zen schools of Japan, to spread Zen in Europe. These teachings, until then only transmitted orally, found in Deshimaru a deep, rigorous and accessible vehicle for the knowledge of Zen in the West.
