Teresa Velázquez

Teresa Velázquez was born in Mexico City in 1962. At UNAM she took part in drawing and painting workshops, such as Gilberto Aceves Navarro's. She obtained the acquisition prizes at the XII Rufino Tamayo Biennial and at the
XV National Meeting of Young Art, INBA. In 1992 she was benefited with Fonca Young Creators and in 2006, 2011 and 2017 with the National System of Creators. Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Germany, the United States, Canada, Haiti, and the biennials of Venezuela and Peru. Among her individual exhibitions, the following stand out: Every stroke, at the Museum of Modern Art; Creation and Recreation, at the Carrillo Gil Art Museum (MACG); D'Ombres et de Lumiére, at the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Art Museum, Québec; The Turn of the Gyre, at the Mexican Institute of Culture in San Antonio and Pasado Meridiano, at the Manuel Felguérez Museum of Abstract Art. Her works are part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, MACG, Manuel Felguérez Museum of Abstract Art, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, Museum of Contemporary Art of Aguascalientes, Zacatecano Cultural Institute and Kaluz Cultural Development.
