Tony Cliff

Tony Cliff (1917-2000) was a leading Marxist author. He had his political beginnings as a revolutionary in occupied Palestine in the 1930s. In 1946 he went to live in Britain, where he developed a long militant career as a theoretician and leader of the Socialist Workers Party. He was a prolific writer who sought to recover Marx's fundamental ideas while overcoming the distortion of Stalinism. Among his works he emphasizes Capitalism of State in the USSR (In struggle, 2000), Trotskyism after Trotsky (In struggle, 2009) and the political biographies of Lenin, Trotsky and Luxemburg (published in English by Bookmarks).
