Vicente Molina Foix

Vicente Molina Foix was born in Elche and studied Philosophy in Madrid, where he resides. He lived eight years in England, where he graduated in Art History from the University of London and was a professor of Spanish Literature at Oxford for three years. Playwright, critic and film director (he has directed two films, Sagittarius (2002) and The Wooden God (2012), his literary work has been developed mainly - after its inclusion in Castellet's historic anthology Nine Newest Spanish Poets - in the field of novels. His main publications are: Busto (Barral Prize 1973), The Communion of Athletes, The Widowed Parents (Azorin Prize 1983), La Fortnight Soviet (Herralde Novel Prize 1988); The Vampire on the Street Mexico (Alfonso García Ramos Award 2002); The Letter Opener (Salambó Award and National Literature Award 2007), The Bitter Guest (co-written with Luis Cremades) and The Young Man Without a Soul. Romantic novel, the short story collections Con as long as I don't die and The Man Who Sold His Own Bed and the volume The Furtive Muse. Poetry 1967-2012, which brings together his complete lyrical production. It is also worth highlighting his film reviews collected in Fountain Cinema and the Portrait of Stanley Kubrick Kubrick at Home.
