Considered one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century and one of the fathers of the contemporary novel, Faulkner was awarded in 1949 the Nobel Prize in Literature, received the Pulitzer in 1955 and posthumously the National Book Award for the publication of his Complete Stories .

He was born in South America and unfinished studies, fought in the First World War as an RAF pilot. As a veteran, I had the opportunity to enter college but decided to devote himself to literature. He published his anthology Soldiers' Pay (1926) after finding some economic stability as a journalist in New Orleans. Shortly after his first start publishing novels that reflected the South he knew so well, The Sound and the Fury (1929) is the best known of this period. Then came famous works such as Light in August (1932),¡ Absalom, Absalom! (1936) or The hamlet (1940). Sanctuary (1931) was, ultimately, his bestselling novel and that allowed him to devote himself to writing scripts for Hollywood. His best-known tales of this era can be read in¡ Go Down, Moses! written in 1942. As a writer, it should be noted his work in us live today (1933), Gunga Din (1939) and The Big Sleep (1946).
