Wislawa Szymborska

Wislawa Szymborska (Provent, current Kórnik, 1923 - Krakow, 2012). Polish writer considered one of the most original voices in contemporary poetry of his country. He was born in a village in the province of Pozman, but moved in 1931 with his family to Krakow, a place which has always been linked. From 1956 it takes place in Poland, as in other countries of the Soviet area, nationalist sentiment in many intellectuals participating actively seeking a way to condemn and overcome all that was the Stalinist period. Szymborska opt for a personal and intimate reflection that returns a spiritual balance. In works such as large number (1976) People on the Bridge (1986) and end and the beginning (1993) it appears profiled ironic, landscape and existentialist style. For all of his work he received the 1996 Nobel Prize for Literature.
