Xavier Mina Larrea

Xavier Mina Larrea (Otano, 1789 - Cuerámano, 1817), founder of Earth Corso de Navarra, fought on the Aragon front under the command of Colonel Carlos de Aréizaga, in the Army of the Right, but was taken prisoner and locked up as a prisoner State of Napoleon at the Tower of Vincennes (Paris). Released in 1814, he faced the absolutism of Fernando VII and went into exile in London, where he lived and matured politically White White and Florez Estrada. Mina landed on the Mexican coast in April 1817, leading the call Auxiliary Division of the Mexican Congress. He resisted at Fort Hat and after his assault and destruction, developed numerous actions of guerrilla character. He tried, unsuccessfully, making Guanajuato, but was taken prisoner by the royalists at Rancho del Venadito and executed by order of Viceroy Apodaca on 11 November 1817. In 1823 the Mexican Provisional Government proclaimed independence hero. Its white marble statue figure today in the Column of Independence of the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, surrounding the Hidalgo, Morelos, Allende y Bravo.
