Xavier Robles has about one hundred feature film books, of which 35 have been filmed, some of which have received national and international awards and distinctions, including Arieles from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, of which he is currently a part. Some of the films based on scripts in which he participated are Las Poquianchis (Cazals, 1976), Bajo la metralla (Cazals, 1981), Los motivos de Luz (Cazals, 1985), Rojo amanecer (Fons, 1989), and Cementerio de papel (Hernández, 2006). As a videographer he has written and directed 13 documentary videos, the most recent Carnival in Iztapalapa (2006). Member of the National System of Creators on three occasions, he is also a poet and film researcher, whose work highlights El pensamiento conservador en el cine mexicano (2002). Professor of prestigious Mexican film institutions, such as CUEC and Cinefilias, and dean of the Master's Degree in Screenwriting at the Intercontinental University, he is also external academic advisor of the Bachelor's Degree in Film and Audiovisual Production of the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP) since 2010. He is also the author of the historical short novel Occupied City.
