We often feel trapped in an effort to understand the past. This is a complicated matter because the past always means less (or more) of what we wanted, and tried in vain to register in a story, becoming notaries willing but not sufficient for our existence. At this time never stands still, we need a tempestuous past: the longing for a past that never quite fit, but we can take as a reference. The Edge of the past is a rehearsal of philosophical hermeneutics which seeks to make a key historical reading of the work of Gadamer, making their perspective to enter into dialogue on the significance of the cultural tradition with the perspective of authors who, like Hegel, Heidegger or Nietzsche sought to elucidate the problem of culture as a dimension of the past.
