The Papacy and historical concreteness of the ministry of Peter is today called for reform and revision of its historical setting and a discussion of its theological content in the light of its origin, according to the biblical testimony and documents of the early Church. Against this backdrop, it is necessary to an understanding of the structures that have developed throughout history as well as those who were its proponents, this knowledge will enable a mature participation in the discussion within Christianity.
