Migration is a process inherent to human beings. However, it is a phenomenon that generates problems such as marginalization and exclusion. Whether in transit, with intentions of permanent residence or in search of refuge, the arrival of migrants presents societies with the challenge of defining, addressing and managing the conditions of their integration. This book brings together a set of studies on some groups of people who have arrived in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara and the Ribera de Chapala with the aim of making them visible, understanding their processes of settlement and reinvention, as well as the challenges that we face as a society. host. From different disciplinary approaches and proposals, ranging from the local to the global, a broad panorama of this population dynamic is presented while delving into the articulation of internal migratory flows, from neighboring states and indigenous populations, with the arrival of diverse groups of foreign immigrants who settle, study or do business in this environment.
