A diwan refers to a collection of writings. Authors used to compose their texts on different themes and forms, and these were compiled in a diwan. These collections could address a variety of topics such as love, nature, politics, and religion. Diwans have significant cultural and literary value. Authors often competed against each other in competitions, and their works were collected in diwans that were considered literary treasures. These collections also provided an insight into the life and customs of the time in which they were written. Mostly diwans were collections by a single author.
