We receive increasing information about the dangers that threaten us and feel powerless to face them. As a reaction to the optimism of Modernity, the pessimism of Postmodernity is just as exaggerated, if not more exaggerated. No illusions, no dreams of utopias: the rock on which rests the historical rupture that represents the end of the myth of progress and the only credible value of this time of crisis is the individual. To put it in other terms: it is each one of us as individuals who are concerned with our occupations and concerned with our interests; my bank account and my state of health, the two "real" axes that sustain and limit the individual's funnel-world.
