Jürgen Moltmann found the initial inspiration of his theology in his first experience of the reality of God being a prisoner of war in Belgium between 1945 and 1948. It was a double experience: of God as a power of hope and of the presence of God in suffering , themes both that will conform later the two complementary faces of their theology. In conversation with Eckart Löhr, the German theologian now makes a brief but intense journey through the main questions of his thought, always linked to the historical circumstances of the contemporary world, and exposes the reasons for his own personal hope.
