Ixbalam-ek / Jaguar Star is a novel written in the Tsotsil language and translated into Spanish by Ruperta Bautista. The novel narrates the life of Ixbalam-ek', a woman who guides her people after the death of her husband Jsakbalam, who was killed in the war. Due to circumstances, Ixbalam-ek is forced to take her husband's place and tries to prevent her people from falling into the hands of the enemy. In this, her first novel, the author immerses herself in time, recreating the daily life of the 6th-century Maya in the Kaxlan calendar. Through the reading of Ixbalam-ek', the reader will gradually immerse themselves in the memories of the protagonist, learning about everyday life during a time of splendor for Mayan culture.
